When asking people Wh-questions about things that they have completed in
the past, here’s a structure that you need to know in Chinese -是……的（shì... de）
For instance, when a person says to you, “I bought a cup of coffee” you may ask,
“When did you buy the coffee?”, then the是……的（shì... de）structure is here
This is how we use the 是……的（shì... de）structure
n I bought a cup of coffee.
wǒ mǎile yībēi kāfēi
l 是+ Question Word + Verb + 的
Where did you buy your coffee?
nǐ shì zài nǎlǐ mǎi kāfēi de
When did you buy your coffee?
nǐ shì shénme shíhòu mǎi kāfēi de
